Lease duty is 0.4% of total rent for leases of 4 years or less, or 0.4% of four times the average annual rent for longer or indefinite leases. Leases with average annual rent of $1,000 or less are exempt. Duty is rounded down to the dollar. AAR includes service, furniture, and maintenance charges where the agreement lists them.
